Zeera Rice

Serves 6 people

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Faria Basmati rice
  • 1 tbsp zeera
  •  1 medium sized onion
  • 2 big tbsp of gee
  • 4 cups water
  • 6 small size bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp of salt

Method:

  1. Wash the Faria Basmati rice 2 or 3 times and put it in a bowl of fresh water
  2. Soak for 30 minutes.
  3. Chop the onion and put it on the stove with a medium sized pot.
  4. Now add the gee, zeera and the onions.
  5. Mix it well and let onions cook till it is golden brown.
  6. Then add the bay leaves and salt and mix it well.
  7. Add 4 cups of water and the Faria Basmati rice and stir.
  8. Cook covered on low heat for 20 minutes.
  9. Now serve hot with a traditional curry dish.
